Feelin’ hot, hot, hot

Yesterday we had our third home football game of the season.

On one hand, I should be thankful.  Last season our football record was a whopping 2-10-0.  On Saturday, we beat Florida International 42-28, making for our third W.

"Thank you Lord"

On the other hand, it was one of the most painful, excruciating games ever.  (And that’s not just because of our nail-biting defense.) No…Saturday, the state of Maryland decided to give us its infamous freaky weather again and make it a high of 97 degrees.  For our noon, almost four-hour game.  Which doesn’t really matter for the band–except that we have to be at practice four hours before every game (8am, do the math)–and that our uniforms are made out of wool.

Luckily for us, after seeing that people couldn’t walk in a straight line after Pregame (no, not THAT kind of pregame) the directors let us take off our jackets.  We did have to wear them again for our Karaoke Part II halftime show, though, and lemme tell you: it really did feel like “Sweet Home Alabama”.  (Sorry that was corny.)

Anyway, I did learn to be thankful for this game.  We now have a better record than last season, and when I wasn’t wearing my jacket, my face and 3/4 of my neck got a nice tan.

When all else fails, I also can just watch this video and remember the good ole’ days of last semester…
